2002

This work was composed for Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church (Durham, NC) and premiered in its Good Friday service in 2002 under the direction of Dave Stuntz.  It employs the last three lines of John Donne's "Crucifying," the fifth in a cycle of seven Holy Sonnets whose first and last lines link them into a ring.

Text:

"Now thou art lifted up, draw me to thee,

And at thy death giving such liberal dole,

Moist, with one drop of thy blood, my dry soule."

(Settings for the remaining six sonnets have been planned, and their composition awaits a suitable opportunity...)

Premiere:

Good Friday worship service, Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church.  4/02.
